From September 1rst, 2021, the concession for the C-32 highway (Maresme<\/a> motorway) ends, which will be free<\/strong>. The Department de Territori I Sostenibiliat of the Generalitat de Catalunya will be the owner of this motorway and responsible for its management.<\/p>\n

52 years after its inauguration, the Maresme<\/a> inhabitants will be able to travel to Barcelona without paying. <\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

What is good for the users will not be so good for the municipalities that are going to stop receiving the taxes associated with the management of this highway.<\/p>\n

The Maresme motorway history<\/h2>\n

On October 28, 1848, the first railway line of the peninsula was inaugurated<\/strong>, the one that connects Barcelona with Matar\u00f3<\/strong>. 173 years ago thanks to this the communications between Maresme<\/a> inhabitants and Barcelona city were improved.<\/p>\n

In 1969<\/strong>, the Maresme<\/a> region once again became a pioneer in communications with Maresme motorway toll<\/strong>, the oldest in Spain, the first to be built on the Peninsula, which originally connected Barcelona and Matar\u00f3<\/strong> .<\/p>\n

In 1998, the Generalitat de Catalunya extended the concession until 2016 under the pretext of lowering tolls on other roads operated by Acesa.<\/p>\n

The Maresme motorway is considered to have had the most expensive price per kilometer in Spain for years (1.83 euros \/ km)<\/strong>. The section between Arenys de Mar and Sant Vicen\u00e7 de Montalt, a 750-meter route along the motorway has a cost of 1.37 euros.<\/p>\n
