{"id":9203,"date":"2020-02-13T09:00:00","date_gmt":"2020-02-13T09:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/bestmaresme.com\/blog\/?p=9203"},"modified":"2023-07-21T20:09:55","modified_gmt":"2023-07-21T20:09:55","slug":"casa-domenech-montaner-canet","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bestmaresme.com\/blog\/en\/casa-domenech-montaner-canet\/","title":{"rendered":"Symbolic Maresme buildings (IV)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<h2>The Dom\u00e8nech i Montaner House of Canet de Mar<\/h2>\n<p><strong>Llu\u00eds Dom\u00e8nech i Montaner<\/strong> was an architect, historian, humanist, politician, graphic designer and, he had students such as <strong>Gaud\u00ed, Puig i Cadafalch or Jujol<\/strong>. He used an innovative language and an architecture based on a new concept in which he integrated all the arts. Some of his works, such as the <strong>Palau de la M\u00fasica Catalana<\/strong> or the <strong>Hospital de Sant Pau<\/strong>, have been declared a World Heritage Site by Unesco. For Canet it is an honor to have several works of such an outstanding architect.<\/p>\n<p>Llu\u00eds Dom\u00e8nech i Montaner married Maria Roura Carnestoltes, born in Canet de Mar, and spent many seasons in this town of <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/bestmaresme.com\/_en\/\">Maresme<\/a><\/strong>. He, his wife and their eight children lived in the Mas\u00eda Rocosa, but with so many children they projected a bigger house, together with his son Pere, also an architect and his son-in-law Francesc Gu\u00e0rdia, between 1918 and 1919. On the facade facing to the first torrent, Dom\u00e8nech placed balconies, and on the other, lobed windows with slender skylights. Either in the windows or in the grandstand of the angle everything indicates that Dom\u00e8nech made his own interpretation of the Gothic style. The materials used are closely related to the place where he built the House. In the lower part he used stone to protect the house from erosion caused by the torrents floods, while in the upper part there is a predominance of brick. Serra)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The <strong>other three buildings<\/strong> built by Dom\u00e8nech i Montaner in Canet de Mar are the <strong>Ateneu<\/strong>, a building built on an old house where lightning rod with a forge dragon stands out and is currently occupied by the public library of Canet; the <strong>Roure House<\/strong> (Riera de Sant Dom\u00e8nec, 1), commissioned in 1889 as a residence by Jacint de Capmany and Paquita Roura; and the reform of the <strong>Masia Rocosa<\/strong>.
