Santuari de la Mare de Déu del Corredor, in Dosrius
Montnegre i el Corredor Natural Park, in Dosrius, Maresme region, we find the Santuari de la Mare de Déu del Corredor. It is a late Gothic building with Renaissance elements built at the end of the 16th century very close to the top of the Serra del Corredor.
The sanctuary is a devotion center in Maresme and Vallès Oriental regions, and on Easter Mondays a gathering is celebrated.
The architectural complex is made up of two separate parts. In the first of them we have the church and the hospitality, both built in the 16th century, and the second one consists of a ground floor building, today occupied by the information point of the Corredor Natural Park. The two parts are surrounded by a protective wall with a large patio which is accessed by a portal with jambs of granite stone ashlars and a flat lintel, closed with two hinged wrought iron leaves.
The church of Santuari del Corredor, dedicated to Mare de Déu dels Socors, has a single nave and a Latin cross plan. Inside there is an altarpiece from the 16th century. Attached to the church there is a magnificent square bell tower.
The History says that around 1530 a peasant farmer named Salvi Arenes had built a small chapel dedicated to Nostra Senyora del Socors on his lands, on the Corredor mountain. In this small chapel a hermit settled, fra Lluís, preaching in the surroundings managed to grow devotion to the Mare de Déu dels Socors. After his death, another hermit of Occitan origin arrived, who, according to documents that are preserved, called “mossèn Bernat Penitència”.

Thanks on his initiative and also to the handouts, the small chapel of Salvi Arenes was demolished and replaced by new buildings, more spacious and solidly built. An altarpiece with reliefs of the life of Jesus Christ and the Virgin Mary was installed in the new chapel, presided over by the image of the Mare de Déu dels Socors.
Mossèn Lleonard succeeded Mossèn Bernat Penitència after his death, and was the one who gave the final impulse to the Sanctuary. He enlarged the space of the church with two back sections, two more chapels on the flanks and an annexed sacristy.
