Maresme is ready for the first post-pandemic Carnival

February 24, 2022 is Fat Thursday (“Dijous Gras”), the beginning of the first carnivals after the pandemic. For aprox one week, the towns of the Maresme region will live these festivities intensely. All those towns have different and funny proposals for this year’s carnivals.

Badalona

Saturday 26, 5 pm, Torre Mena (C/ Reus / pl Amistat). Proclamation the Carnestoltes Queen and her court, and they star the passacaglia music along Badalona streets.

Saturday, 26, 7 p.m., Trafalgar Square. Costume dance.

Cabrera de Mar

Cabrera de Mar recovers its face-to-face carnival with two costume contests, one for children and one for adults, with 3 categories (individual, couple and troupe).

Friday 25, 6 pm, municipal envelat. Children’s entertainment and children’s costume contest.

Friday 25, 6 pm, municipal envelat. Costume contest for adults and Carnestoltes dances.

Monday 28, 5:30 p.m., Casal de la gent gran El Castellet. Musical show “The show must go on”.

Tuesday, 1, 20 pm, municipal envelat. The Ball of Momerotes will precede the funeral march that will begin at 10 pm.

Wednesday 2, 7 pm, Can Martinet terrace. Farewell to Carnestoltes with the traditional testament reading followed by the sardine funeral.

Mataró

Mataró, the Maresme Capital recovers the most important act of its carnival, the parade.

Friday, 25, 9 p.m., Plaza del Ajuntament. The Botargues will appear at the Pati del Cafè Nou and, together with the Momerota and the Momerotetaes, will go to the Town Hall where Pellofa XLIV will make his proclamation.

Saturday 26, 11:30 a.m., Central Park. Ball de Gitanes organized by the Associació Cultural Mestres del Gai Saber with the Cobla la Principal de la Bisbal and the Esbart Rocasagna de Gelida, the Mossèn Biscúter and the Ball de Gitanes de Mataró.

Premià de Mar

Thursday 24, 5 pm, various streets. Arrival of Sa Majestat Primilià accompanied by good music.

Sunday 27, 11:30 a.m., Plaza de la Sardana. Children’s parade and show with Ambauka.

Monday 28, 12 noon, Escola La Lió courtyard. Circus show with Cia Los Herrerita.

Wednesday 2, 5:30 p.m., Països Catalans Square. Testament of King Carnestoltes and Burial of the sardine.

Sant Andreu de Llavaneres

Llavaneres recovers the parade but there will be no costume contest or dance to avoid contagion.

Saturday 26, 6 p.m. Parade will run through the center streets. In the Ca l’Alfaro park there will be a finale performance by the Xarop de Canya animation group. Ultraescenika and Els Batubanyuts will also participate.

Vilassar de Dalt

Vilassar de Dalt Carnival will came back with the traditional parade and the tortilla competition.

Thursday 24, 8 pm, L’Estrella. Tortilla contest.

Sunday 27, 11 a.m., Les Escoles. The parade will run through the streets Ignasi Bufalà, Manuel Moreno, Anselm Clavé, Nou, Mestra Viladrosa, Àngel Guimerà and will end in the Plaza de la Vila where the verdict of the costume contest will be announced.

Sunday 27, 5:30 p.m., Maria Roser Carrau Cultural Hall. The company The gecko con botas represents the family show “Aventura en estel”.

Wednesday 2. Burial of the sardine with a parade enlivened by Aval and Mansuets de Foc, Can Bisa to the Plaza del Ajuntament.
