Next weekend (Saturday 18 – Sunday 19 November), Sant Andreu de Llavaneres invites us to a new edition of the Llavaneres Coca Gastronomic Fair. The main location will be the Ca l’Alfaro Park.
This famous and delicious traditional coca is usually rectangular in shape, although occasionally it is given other shapes. Its thickness does not exceed 2 cm. The dough is made with puff pastry, and is filled with cream and local almond marzipan, and covered with pine nuts. Finally, the task is finished by adding a touch of vanilla and lemon. It is the dessert par excellence of local gastronomy and one of the most recognized in all of Catalonia.
Its origins date back to 1955, when a local pastry chef was commissioned to prepare an original dessert for a wedding between wealthy families in Barcelona. The pastry chef locked himself in his workshop and let his imagination and creativity fly. Finally, and after several tests, he came up with the fabulous recipe that has survived to this day.
Coca de Llavaneres is certified with a quality guarantee mark, and is made exclusively in artisan pastry shops in Sant Andreu de Llavaneres. These are the establishments that currently have official certification:

Finally, at the Llavaneres Coca Fair you will find a wide variety of cokes and pastry products, but also typical products of the autumn season in the region, such as mushrooms, chestnuts, sweet potatoes, pumpkins, pomegranates, quince… .
