The blue flag is a badge awarded annually by the European Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE) to beaches and Marina ports that meet a series of environmental conditions and facilities.
This program is especially aimed at beaches and ports at the international level, since 1987 throughout Europe and since 2001 also in the rest of the world. The Blue Flag program promotes the sustainable development of marine and freshwater areas. It challenges local authorities and beach operators to achieve high standards in all four categories: water quality, environmental management, environmental education, and safety.
Over the years, the Blue Flag has become a highly respected and recognized eco-label work.
One of the main Maresme attractions are the magnificent beaches that characterize the 16 coastal towns in the region. Small rocky coves of white sand and the extensive golden sand beaches will undoubtedly be an idyllic space. These are mainly characterized by the quality of its waters, which means that Maresme has 9 beaches with the distinctive blue flag.
The mild weather, sunny days throughout the year make Maresme coastline a perfect place for water sports practice with a wide range of activities such as scuba diving, fishing, kitesurfing and kayaking.
Come and enjoy the 52 km of beaches on the Barcelona-Maresme Coast, with a total of 54 coarse and medium-grain golden sand beaches.
