How to enjoy spectacular sea views, from the top of Burriac Castle or from its coastline?
If you do not know Cabrera de Mar, it is a municipality located in the center of the Maresme region, in a small valley open to the coast and on the top the castle of Burriac, the Montcabrer, and between Vilassar de Mar and Mataró.
Pla de l’Avellà (beach area), the old neighborhood of Agell, as well as some residential developments also form part of it.
Traditionally, the base of the economy has been agriculture, with a predominance of horticultural products. Starting in the 1960s, the fields of orchard crops and ornamental plants and flowers, mainly carnations, have been declining, giving way to industry and tourism, thanks to the proximity to Mataró, the capital of Maresme.
Cabrera de Mar is a town that lives between the sea and the mountains, which is why we propose two very different routes to discover its attractions.
Circular route of the fountains
The sources of the Torrent de Burriac are undoubtedly one of the most attractive routes that can be done in Cabrera de Mar or Argentona, since we can access them from these two towns.
Thanks to this route surrounded by stone pine forests, holm oaks and spectacular views of the Maresme coastline, we will get to know the large number of sources of the Torrent de Burriac.
We suggest leave the car in the Font Picant parking in Cabrera de Mar, from where we start the ascent until we reach the Burriac Monolith. When we reach this, along a wide track, we will begin the descent to the Burriac pass, and we will take the detour to the Oriols hill. We will pass by the enchanted rocks as we approach the Picant d’Argentona fountain. Here we can enjoy its water.
Once there, along Burriac avenue, we will see the Mig fountain, one of the first fountains we will soon find, such as the Alcornoques fountain, the Esquirol fountain, the Grupo and the last one, the Fuente del Ferro, will take us back, along a flat path, to Collet de Burriac, which will return us to the starting point.
A route along trails, which allows us to enjoy nature among pine trees and with the blue of the sea as a backdrop.
Other route that we suggest you is a bike route to discover the beaches and agricultural areas of Cabrera de Mar.
BIKE ROUTE along the beach, agricultural areas of Cabrera
A route to do with the family or friends, and starting point is Cabrera de Mar train station, next to the beach. We will follow the promenade to the north (Mataró), and cross the Torrent del Molí and the Cabrera creek. We must take the underground passage that will allow us to go under the train tracks and the N-II and access the agricultural area of Cabrera de Mar. We climb surrounded by typical crops of Maresme area, beautiful farmhouses… up to the height of Can Noé where we will turn right until we reach the Sindicato Agrícola.
Cabrera de Mar has a bike lane that takes us to the old town.
At this point we can go up to the Font Picant, or follow the avenue Once de Septiembre which, along rural paths, leads us back to the beaches of Cabrera de Mar.
